Lafayette Square Elopement in St. Louis

There’s something about choosing a Monday for an intimate elopement in St. Louis. Kacey and Jack’s February elopement in St. Louis felt uncomplicated, emotional, and deeply intentional. Surrounded by only their closest family and friends, their day took place in a historic home in Lafayette Square. Lafayette Square in St. Louis has a way of feeling untouched by time. It reminds me of the streets of other old historic cities, like Savannah or Charleston. Inside the home, the atmosphere was warm and layered. Old textures, natural light, and the kind of details that don’t need to be styled. Before their ceremony, we wanted to take time for just the two of them and I wanted to document them in an honest and artful way. We explored the historic airbnb, heading to the old fireplace, balcony with ornate ironwork details, and then took portraits on the front steps.

Intimate Ceremony in a Historic Home

Kacey and Jack were married in front of an old fireplace in one of the rooms of the historic home, with their closest people gathered just a few feet away. No aisle, no big wedding production, just the two of them and the presence of their family and friends.

There were quiet moments, soft laughter, and the kind of emotion that builds naturally when nothing feels forced. The room held all the emotions. Every glance, every tear, every small in-between moment that would’ve been missed in a larger setting. It felt less like an event and more like something unfolding exactly as it should. I couldn’t help but tear up watching her mom and dad cry happy tears and fill with pride. There’s a certain freedom in stepping outside of expectation.Kacey and Jack didn’t try to make their day into anything it wasn’t. And because of that, it became something even more meaningful.

Captured on 35 mm film + digital

This day was captured on a blend of digital and film, each bringing something different to the story. Film holds onto softness, graininess, and imperfection. Digital captures clarity and immediacy. Together, they create something that feels closer to memory than documentation. Lafayette Square is one of the most unique places for an intimate wedding in St. Louis, especially for couples drawn to historic spaces and a slower, more intentional kind of day. As a St. Louis wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to elopements like this. The ones that aren’t built for an audience, but for the people inside them.

Whether it’s a historic home, a quiet ceremony, or a day that doesn’t follow any traditional timeline, the goal stays the same: To document what’s real.
